Calculation of compensation

You can use the table below to calculate the compensation for your flight or use our calculator for free. The average compensation amount of our clients is €450 per passenger, however, the compensation varies from €125 and €600 per passenger.

Your rights as an air passenger

In addition to compensation, airlines must offer a number of things if the flight disruption was due to the airline’s fault. The list of the provisions:

  • Refreshments
  • Free meals appropriate to the delay;
  • Free hotel accommodation if an overnight stay is required;
  • hotel transfers if an overnight stay is required;
  • Two free phone calls, faxes or emails;

However, there are cases when you are not eligible for a compensation:

  • The airline informed you about the flight cancellation 14 days before your flight;
  • You were offered an alternative flight by the airline for the same route and time.

If the cancellation of the flight was caused by the extraordinary conditions, you has to be offered one the following:

  • Ticket refund (full price or the unused part of it);
  • An alternative transport to your destination;
  • Rebooking your flight to a later date, providing that it fits the passengers and the airline.

Denied boarding compensation

Usually, in case of overbooking, the airline looks for volunteers who would cancel their booking for the flight in exchange for particular benefits. These volunteers must be provided with two options:

  • Full refund of your ticket price;
  • Route change.

If the volunteer chooses the route change option, they should be provided with further support from the airline. It may include meals and refreshments, telephone communications, accommodation, and transportation from the airport.

If you were denied boarding and you were not willing to opt for these two options, you are eligible for compensation of €250-€600 per passenger in addition to the full refund of your ticket price.

Connection flights

The criteria for the flight disruption to be eligible for compensation are exactly the same. However, it is important to know that intermediary points outside the European Union might cause the 261/2004 regulation to be not applicable.

In the case of a delay or cancellation in a complex flight route (several flights), the total delay to your final destination is used to determine whether you are entitled to compensation.

For this to work, all the connecting flights in your overall route must be bought under a single booking code. In another case, each flight will be considered as a separate flight.

Compensation calculation in the Turkish jurisdiction

If your flight was delayed, or canceled, or you were denied boarding in the case of a domestic flight (within Turkey), you are eligible for compensation of €100 per passenger.

In case of the disruption of the international flight, you are entitled to compensation in the amount of €125-€600 per passenger. The amount also depends on the details of your flight, including the distance of your flight route and the delay time.
